Cloudy, Rainy but going forth...

Temple Visitor's Center during the construction period.
The basement is being dug, is my guess whats happening. There is a monster
hole on the site and preparation is being made for the cement foundation. It
has begun. Did not get to talk to the super, so my feeble construction
 knowledge is all you get.
This opening is on the extreme south side of the lot. They are planning a
looking area (wooden porch) to view the construction from this point.

Missionary couple assigned:

Today was just a beautiful day for a short trip to the new temple site. Met the new Elder couple missionaries assigned to the visitors center on the property. They hail from San Diego and are Bro and Sis Winchell. They actually have a daughter serving her mission in the Glendale area. I will grab some photos of them next week as she (Sister Winchell) was not there today.
This is the visitors center on west side of the enterence.
Grading, grading and more grading. Looking NW

There is going to be lots of traffic around the temple in the upcoming weeks as they are starting to remove dirt, more grading and such. Elder Winchell advised members and visitors who want to come out to do so after 4pm. or to just wait another few weeks. Looks like things are finally going to start happening.

Please bare with me

My computer is down and I uploaded these three pics with my iPad, which is somewhat limited or more like operator error. Anyways had a nice chat this morning with the super and he told me that pretty much nothing will be happening until after November Conference. The grounds are graded level and ready to begin. There are two new portable buildings up on the south side which will be used for missionary work and a mini visitors center. Elder missionary couples have been assigned to this location and I will meet them next week. Keep the faith people, I have a feeling when this all starts it will be a whirlwind. Just let yourself get sucked it... Best to all, Pete

Dirt and more dirt:

Hi everyone: It's been a couple of months since the temple dedication and as expected not a whole lot is going on. They are getting the grounds ready, grading, digging etc. Some people would just say this is just dirt, I say I'm standing on holy ground, something is happening here... you can just feel it.

There is a wall now around the entire property so taking photos will be a challenge, but fear not, if there's a will... Anywho, enjoy the pics and I'll check back in a few weeks. Also for those who enjoy a good tractor photo, I got one for ya...   Pete

Phoenix Arizona Temple Ground Dedication June 4, 2011

Well I hope things are starting to get going. The dedication of the Phoenix Arizona Temple was held on June 4th with tons of members in attendence. Presiding was Elder Ronald Al Rasband of the Seventy. I personally did not attend, but I had my trusty friend and brother (my Bishop), Tim Thacker take some great shots of the event. Thanks Bishop for being there and providing these pictures. Enjoy the photos.

Update:

Hello all, nothing much to report. Progress will be alittle slow through the summer months. They put in the back parking lot and the frontal area remains untouched. That's it for now, be safe.

Waiting...

I met with the project superintendent today briefly for some questions and direction. He told me not to expect much in the next 2 to 3 months. They will be breaking up the adjacent church parking lot for more room and the actual building construction is on hold for now. I will be checking back every few weeks to take a peek. Ground breaking has not been scheduled yet, I'm sure we'll hear it first in church.

Until then, below is a direct link to the church's site for the Phoenix Arizona Temple.
